Two police officers on road range incident

KwaZulu Natal Hawks Spokesperson Mr. Simphiwe Mhlongo speaking on Metro FM Talk, Mhlongo said, "We cannot rule out that one because the two gentlemen did not know each other; they did not even know each other; whether this one is a police. It happened after the investigations after the murder of Constable Ngidi. 

"So far, the suspect handed himself to the national intervention unit. After procurement together with Metro Police, we went to the place of his employment where we were looking for him. We spoke to his commanders, calling him to come so we can sort out the matter. When we arrived at the station, he handed himself in. He appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate Court where he remained in custody.

"He will reappear on the 27th of October for a bail application. As much as we did not talk to the family of the deceased, however, we made that call on Friday after he was arrested, to inform the family because the funeral was on Friday. Informing them that the suspect has been arrested and he will face the full might of the law. It talks to the behavior of the members, hence we are calling to all the members to stop this thing.

"This is the individual behavior in which the organization will defend themselves from such behavior. We are warning our colleagues, whoever you are, you are not above the law; you will be arrested and face consequences as it happened to this officer. Ours as Hawks, members will make sure that we investigate cases of this nature more specially when the police are being killed. We are constitutionally mandated to deal with serious organized crime."
