Stellenbosch FC have managed to beat Sekhukhune United in the MTN 8 Semi Final 1st leg at Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday evening. Both goals came in the first half by Enyinnaya Godswill in the 23rd minute and Devin Titus in the 33rd minute. Unathi Mdaka from Stellenbosch FC won the man of the match award.
On post match interview with SABC Sport, Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker said "Lesiba Nku, is a real quality player, he was a little bit unlucky not to get a start. I was happy for him to show what he is capable of doing." The losing coach Erick Tinkler said "unfortunately the players didn't listen, and it is exactly what they have done to us.
"They punish us on our mistakes; they deserve the victory this evening, the results they got here this evening. Now we have another opportunity at home to reverse the results 2-0, doesn't mean the game is over; get the early goal at home it opens up the game again. So, this is disappointing we allowed them to score from those mistakes.
"We train in a specific way every day, our training field is better than this. We want to play a certain brand of football, this field doesn't allow that."
