St Eloi Lupopo Coach Suspended
Following the complaint made by Orlando Pirates regarding the eligibility of the coach Guy Bukasa, who was on the bench when the two sides met at Orlando Stadium in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round, Ezikamagebhula lodged a complaint questioning his eligibility to be on the bench in that match. Orlando Pirates managed to come back from 3-0 down to take the match into penalties.
CAF has ruled that Saint Eloi Lupopo's Mr. Guy Bukasa will be facing a six-match suspension starting from the upcoming match against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria. The coach also received a fine of R344,000. According to the CAF, Bukasa failed to comply with the decision taken before regarding his involvement in the Democratic Republic of Congo under 20 national team. This ruling does not prevent him from coaching the club; it is only banning him from sitting on the bench during the match.
CAF has already issued another two-match suspension for the famous club left back, Lord Mukoko. This comes after showing unsporting behavior to Orlando Pirates fans at Orlando Stadium. The former FIFA referee Victor Hlungwani, who is working at SABC, said after Orlando Pirates submitted complaints, "the coach's suspension does not have a direct impact on the outcome in the match. The coach does not play football."
