Panyaza Lesufi on Madlanga Commission
Premier in Gauteng Mr. Panyaza Lesufi shared his views regarding the Madlanga Commission and Parliament AD HOC Committee . Speaking to Aubrey Masanga on Radio 702 said " it is very difficult to analyze now , as they were given 60 days . There's still have many witnesses to come , so if you pre-judge and jump into conclusions on some of the issues that are currently on public domain ; we might miss some certain points obviously .
" What is being tabled so far its little bit worrying . It needs immediate attention . We don't have a full list of who will be witness , whether some of the information that has been given ; will be challenged or interrogated . My view is that let's take note , take notes as well and I hope our capabilities and skills to take notes is at highest level . So that we can concentrate at the right time . Its transparency , accountability , it is what the president said .
" Lets subject this process to process that will allow those with information to put it in public space . I don't think theres country or institution that does that . What surprises me ; when the president announced some were saying we don't need this information , but now they are singing hallelujah . They just wanted a Minister to be fired . If we had taken that option , we wouldn't be here now . We really need to give thanks to the president for honesty .
" As ordinary South Africans we didn't have this information . He had the opportunity to meet with General Mkhwanazi , .Minister and National Commissioner on the basis of information . But he felt that the commission is the best way out , it was the correct decision . He was smart to say ; let it be two reports . Rather than to wait longer for full report . Give us preliminary report while waiting for the full report . The final report will be very crucial to us to make that final sensible decision " .
