Orlando Pirates have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Betway Premiership season 2025/2026. In their first game, they lost 1-0 to Sekhukhune United and on Tuesday night lost 2-1 to Marumo Gallants in Bloemfontein. Orlando Pirates were the first team to score in the 15th minute by Patrick Maswanganyi.

In the first half, Orlando Pirates played very well, dominating in possession. In the 46th minute, the former Jwaneng Galaxy star Daniel Msendami scored for Marumo Gallants. In the 90th minute, Jaisen Clifford from the header beat Sipho Chaine to give Marumo Gallants all the points.

In the game, Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, who is now under pressure, made a number of changes; replacing Mariko for Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Maswanganyi for Deon Hotto. In the other match, Mamelodi Sundowns beat AmaZulu FC 2-0, with goals by Iqraam Rayners and Tashreeq Matthews.

After the match, Abdeslam Ouaddou said, "It's the results we were not expecting. We came here to win the match after we lost against Sekhukhune United. It's disappointing how we started, we are going to analyse the game to see what's going wrong."
