Minister of Health in South Africa Mr. Aaron Motsoaledi met with Operation Dudula regarding the prevention of foreign nationals in the health facilities. Operation Dudula has made it clear that they will prevent all non-South African citizens in all health facilities across the country.
Speaking on SABC News, Motsoaledi said, "I met with Operation Dudula about three hours ago; I took them through the process of immigration. I told them they might be solving what looks like legitimate issues, but using the wrong means because in health, we treat everybody who enters there who is sick. They can't expect us to chase people away when they are sick, regardless of the circumstances of their nationality."
"It is just not allowed in health care anywhere; they must not confuse issues. There is this belief that health care in South Africa is free, but it is not in any country in the world. What I want to correct is that health care is free for children under the age of six and young women; that was declared by our founding president Nelson Mandela."
