Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi said they will have to move away from the mentality of playing to qualify for Top 8 and avoiding relegation. Speaking to Victor Molefe at Ukhozi FM Prime Time Sports, "We are on the second week now preparing for the new season. Preparations are going well, so we will focus on bringing back our identity.
"The team wasn't defending well when I arrived. We had to change the personnel, as we didn't have depth. Themba Mantshiyane got injured ahead of the Marumo Gallants game, we struggled. If you are leaking goals you will find it very difficult to maintain momentum. In most of our games, we dominated except for the Orlando Pirates game and Stellenbosch. In our first game with Pirates we didn't dominate, but at Moses Mabhida Stadium we should have scored at least three goals.
"Reasons I'm still at Arrows is to show appreciation to the club for what they did on my journey. They were good to me. Arrows is known as relegation candidates, but I want to bring back Arrows to be the club it was. We used to produce talent as we saw players like Kagiso Dikgacoi go abroad. Nduduzo Sibiya is a product of our scouting in 2008."
