Madlanga Commission expected to release report
The Madlanga Commission is expected to release its interim report to president Cyril Ramaphosa on the 17th December 2025 . It has been months of testimony into the allegations of political interference within law enforcement . This allegations were made by KwaZulu Natal Provincial Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi on his media briefing on the 6th July 2025 . A number of witness have already testified including the likes of Bheki Cele who is a former Minister in Police. From the decision taken by the president , the report won't be made for public consumption .
A leader of Accountability Now Mr.Paul Hoofman said on Newzroom Afrika " I think we need to go back to the terms of reference ; its very clear that this Commission did not start when it was anticipated in . There were problems setting it up for the venue capacitating its staff and so on . It only started in September even the Gazette ended it , was the end of July . So everything has been moved out ; there was to be an interim report on the 31st of October , and that report is due to now today. Theres absolutely nothing in terms of reference that obliges the Commission to make the interim report or even the final report public . It is common , important to make the final report available to the speaker of parliament .
" Out of work they are trying to do ; quite separately from working out what is going on with application of the legislation and the policies . That relates to the subject matter . It is essential that the corruption of the criminal justice administration and the syndicates ; that seem to be responsible to be politicians into the pockets. Evidence of that is still incomplete , the Minister of police , Senzo Mchunu ; is right at the centre of this complaint by General Mkhwanazi as yet to complete his evidence . There was a pretty text exchange between evidence leaders and his council about re-examining .
" All of that suggest that it is early days to dig in into the factual aspects of the matter . Where's on question of legislation , policies we will institute a institutional arrangement that have failed to prevent the crime syndicates ; from assuming the role . None of that is yet at the state where finalize reports with both sides " .
