Lesotho Football Association Secretary General Mr. Mokhosi Mohapi warns the South African Football Association not to play Teboho Mokoena. The two countries are expected to meet for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match in South Africa. Speaking with Thomas Kweneite on Soccer Beat, Mohapi said, "If South Africa dares to play Teboho Mokoena, we will lodge a protest."

"I'll tell you why; we will lodge a protest so that it will go back to the other match because he has never served the suspension that he was meant to have served. The suspension was supposed to be automatic during the match against Lesotho, and he did not serve it. So, now we are going to say, for the match against Benin that was not serving a match, he was not picked for that match."

"In so far as regulation is concerned, SAFA did not pick him for that match because that was not the match in which he had to serve the suspension. We will wait until three minutes before the game, then we will lodge the suspension. The regulation is clear; it says an automatic suspension for fielding an ineligible player. He was ineligible to play against Lesotho, not Benin."

"For the Benin game, he was simply dropped for fear of reprisal. Once we immediately see him in the list, he should not even walk onto the pitch, as long as he is in the team list; we will lodge the protest."
