Lesedi FM controversial Song of the Year

Lesedi fm cross over song to the year 2026 has raised controversy. On the 31st December Lesedi FM played the song Ya Itshepelang Modimo by Oufadafada as the cross over song . Listeners at Lesedi FM accused the management for interfering on the stations Playlist. This is not a new controversy in the public broadcaster . In the year 2021 Ukhozi FM announced DJ Hlo as the cross over song in which the listeners at the time had the very same concerns . So far there's nothing to prove that there was influence from the management in selecting the song Ya Itshepelang Modimo .

Free State Music Association wrote a letter to Lesedi FM demanding transparency in selecting the cross over song . Speaking to Msimango News , The Association said " they said to us they are so disssapointed that we have taken this matter to the media. They told us that ; they don't have song of the year at the station but they only have cross over song . We then asked them to give us criteria which they followed when selecting the song as the cross over song for Lesedi FM . We are still waiting for them to send us communication to explain the criteria which was used to choose that song . The person who is communicating with us is Mamontha Motaung ( Lesedi FM Business Manager ) .

Prior to the concept of voting for the cross over song , Radio stations used to choose a song that dominated their Playlist, count down and a song that had lot of sales . The system of voting used by Ukhozi FM has been exploited as one listener is able to vote many times. The focus now is about how many votes you have instead of the popularity of the song . Gagasi fm has made it clear that to them is strictly one person , one vote . DJ Tira won the cross over song at Gagasi FM with his song Awungazi . At Ukhozi FM , Maffikizolo won with the song Uyoncengwa Unyoko .
