Kwaito star Sibusiso Ntshangase known as Sbu Maloya is celebrating 25 years in the game. Speaking to Khathide Tshata Ngobe at Ukhozi FM Woza Nabangani Bakho, "Sbu" said, "my parents are originally from KwaZulu Natal at Ezakheni, A, Emnambithi; but due to work, they relocated to Gauteng. I'm really grateful for the support I got from my followers and people from South Africa. In KZN, they supported me a lot, followed by Gauteng. It is when I met Mbongeni Ngema and started on Sarafina.
"At that time, I was still studying. I then got the opportunity in Durban; it is when I met Lindelani Mkhize. At that time, he was in the group called Jammer. So it happened that I ended up meeting Chicco Thwala. After I finished my studies, it is when I met Mdu Masilela, Mandla Spikiri, and the group Mashamplani was formed. Before that, we did the Tsiki Tsiki song and I had to push Mdu to be a singer as he was shy at that time. We then recorded a second album Yu 4me including Magesh and Pro.
"Then the group Mashamplani started, but due to some challenges, we parted ways. I went back to Mbongeni Ngema. It is when I got a contract with Polygram. I was signed and I met Guffy; then we released a song Maloya featuring Magesh. Later, I joined TKZ and Tokollo and Kabelo were friends; it is when we recorded Phalafala with Tkzee. I'm so grateful for what I have achieved; kwaito has made me the person who I am today."
