After beating Angolan side Kabuscorp in the CAF Confederations Cup 1st preliminary round, Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr clarifies the club loan policy. Recently the club has loaned Happy Mashiane and Samkelo Zwane to Siwelele FC. Speaking to SABC Sport journalist Velile Mnyandu, Motaung said, "We had our plans with young players; but they have done tremendously well, and it's sometimes better to retain your young teens with you in the same environment."
"While still getting minutes in the DDC, but being able to train in the first team; getting that training to understand game model as opposed to loaning just for the sake of saying you are loaning a player. It's a balance between how you manage the minutes, training, preparations, and it's an ongoing process. Injuries happen; we know exactly the impact of injuries."
"So we are mindful of the fact that you could loan out or remove certain players, how and finding yourself in a tough situation later."
