Amakhosi have started their CAF campaign well after beating Angolan side Kabuscorp in the first preliminary round. They will now be going to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo to play against AS Simba in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup. The match will be on the 18th of October at TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi. Amakhosi are traveling to face Congolese after parting ways with their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi.

The unfortunate part is that, since parting ways with coach Nabi, Amakhosi hasn't won a match. They were knocked out in the Carling Knockout Cup by Stellenbosch FC on penalties after failing to qualify for the MTN 8. On Monday, the club announced that their second leg against AS Simba will be played on the 26th of October 2025, at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

In their last game at FNB Stadium, they drew 1-1 against AmaZulu FC. The last time Amakhosi played in the CAF tournament was in 2021 when they lost against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League final. At that time, they were under the leadership of Stuart Baxter and Arthur Zwane, and Al Ahly was under coach Pitso Mosimane. Other South African clubs who are in the tournament are Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Stellenbosch FC.
