Amakhosi are through to the CAF Confederations Cup group stages after beating AS Simba 3-1 at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Kaizer Chiefs fans came in numbers to fill up the stadium in the second leg, after the goalless draw in Lubumbashi last weekend. Despite the disappointing results midweek in the Betway Premiership against Siwelele, Amakhosi came into the game with a different approach.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Khalil Ben Youssef was back after missing the midweek match at FNB Stadium. Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr, Football Manager Bobby Motaung came to watch the game at Dobsonville Stadium. Premier in Gauteng Mr. Panyaza Lesufi and Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Honorable Gayton McKenzie were also present at the stadium.

Amakhosi started on fire when they scored three goals in the first half. Etiosa Ighodaro got his first goal in the Kaizer Chiefs, Zitha Kwinika got the second. Makabi Lilepo got the third goal before halftime. Amakhosi coach made changes in the second half; replacing Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Mfundo Vilakazi for Asanele Velebayi and George Matlou. The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe made his debut.

Just after the substitutions, the visitors got the consolation goal to end the match 3-1 in favor of the home team. Makabi Lilepo was taken out in the first half due to injury, replaced by Pule Mmodi. It will be a big blow if Lilepo doesn't return from injury; as Khanyisa Mayo is out with injury and Da Silva. Now Amakhosi will wait for the group stages draw to take place.
