Umkhonto Wesizwe Party led by former president Jacob Zuma , suspended their deputy president Mr. John Hlophe known as Judge Hlophe . In 2024 February , Hlophe was impeached by the national assembly . Speaking to Lelethu on the podcast Hlophe said " It is just over year now since we started as Umkhonto Wesizwe . We sworn it on the 25th of June 2024 . So , we have been there now about 15 months . Its a learning curve for all of us ; remember we have quality within Umkhonto Wesizwe . Some of us are former cabinet ministers .

" For example D. Vanrooyen was a minister of finance, he's in parliament . Nathi Nhleko is a former minister of police , even thou he is not in parliament ; he's a national chairperson of Umkhonto Wesizwe . So there's a lot of experience there . Also remember a lot of them , there are so many members of the parliament who held important positions outside of government before . For example ; corporations like Eskom it was headed at some point by Brian Molefe .

" We also have Siyabonga Gama he was at Transnet before , there's also Lucky Motana who was at Prasa before . Mzwanele Manyi he was DG of labor. Quite a lot of experience that we have ; interestingly lot of this comrades that I have mentioned , they were the members of the ANC . They were able to acquire that experience whilst they were loyalty for the ANC and the government that was led by the ANC . We do have lot of experience within the MK and is beginning to show " .

John Hlophe was born in KwaDukuza in 1959 . His parents are ; Thomas Hlophe who was a traditional healer and Monica who was a strong Christian. Hlophe further said "my father never interfere with my mom's devotion , right to go to church to pursue her religion . So when we grew up , we grew up as Christians actually . My mother used to take the two of us , I mean my brother who is late now . He was older than me . So , we grew up like normal kids . Every Sunday we go to Sunday school , come back , Monday we go to school " .
