Gwabini on Senzo Meyiwa Case
The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial continues at Pretoria High Court were five accused are facing allegations of killing the Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa . The incident happened on the 26 October 2014 in Vosloorus . Constable Skhumbuzo Sizwe Zungu when he first appeared in court on the 7th of September 2023 mentioned Gwabeni on his testimony . Advocate Charles Mnisi who is representing accused one Muzi Sibiya , and accused three Mthobisi Mncube , told the defence witness Gwabini about what Zungu said in court .
" Skhumbuzo Sizwe Zungu he testifies about the incident happened on the 26 October 2014 . In the morning of the 26 October 2014 you ( Gwabini ) gave him a call , you wanted to know that ; is he going to be able to come to you . His reply was , he is now going to work then in the afternoon will come . You ( Gwabini ) you told him that there's another guy from Rustenburg who will also be coming . You then sent contact of Makhosonke Zungu to him . After work Zungu contacted Makhosonke and agreed to meet .
" According to Zungu , indeed they met in Carlton Centre in Johannesburg , while they were there you ( Gwabini ) , you then call to ask where are they now . They told you that they are on the way . They drove to Basotho hostel and arrived in the afternoon , at around 14hoo and 15h00 . There were other people there from the village . While eating and sitting amongst the people who were there , was Muzi Sibiya , Mafika Ntanzi and Mthobisi Mncube . You reminded him about accused two and three as he claimed knowing accused number one already .
" Then accused number five, Fisokuhle Ntuli came and introduced himself to you as Nkani . After realizing that there was now no alcohol , they drove with red Uno to buy more alcohol . Zungu said he was drinking Jameson , dashing it . At around 20h20 in the evening while sitting facing the main door . He ( Zungu ) saw Muzi , Ntanzi and Mncube following each other into your room . According to Zungu ; they were shocked and walking very fast straight into your room .
" Immediately after they got into your room, he followed them and you followed as well , because he wanted to know what was happening . Then lights went off while you were all in the room . You took the initiative to solve the light problems . Zungu further said , he placed his gun in your room and he saw Muzi carried a firearm called 38 revolver and Mncube was carrying 9mm " . This was Advocate Charles Mnisi read on the record for Gwabini prior to the short adjournment . Gwabini regarded the evidence of Skhumbuzo Sizwe Zungu as lies .
