Egypt stun Zimbabwe in the AFCON 2025
Egypt surprises Zimbabwe when they come from 1-0 down to win the match on Monday night. Egypt came into the match as favorites but Zimbabweans shocked them when they opened the scoring in the 20th minute by Yanga SC striker Prince Ndlovu. Zimbabwe fought to keep clean sheets in the first half. W. Navaya is the only player who got the yellow card from Zimbabweans in the first half. Egypt made changes in the 34th minute taking out Emam Ashour for M. Mohamed. M. Trezeguet was booked in the 44th minute.
In the second half, the Egyptians came back strong, putting a lot of pressure on Zimbabwe's defense. In the 62nd minute, Manchester City star Marmoush Omar scored for Egypt to level matters. After the equalizer, Egypt was all over Zimbabwe trying to get all three points. Liverpool striker in the English Premier League, Mohamed Salah, scored in the 90+1 to hurt the Zimbabweans who were hoping to walk away at least with a draw. Zimbabwe coach Mario Marinica made changes; he replaced W. Navaya with M. Bonne and Prosper Padera for Marumo Gallants star Daniel Msendami. The goal scorer Prince Dube was replaced by T. Chirewa. T. Maswanhise came in for Emmanuel Jalai.
Zimbabwe played the match with Knowledge Musona and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga. The former Kaizer Chiefs winger Khama Billiat is not on the squad. Zimbabwe will have a mountain to climb as they would have to beat Angola and Bafana Bafana. Zimbabwe head coach Mario Marinica said, "We have proven that we can play strong football against one of the best."
