EFF delivers memorandum at Constitutional Court
Economic Freedom Fighters had a march on Friday in Johannesburg. They went to the Constitutional Court in Braamfontein to deliver the memorandum, demanding the release of the Phala Phala report that implicates the ANC and State President Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa. In the memorandum, which was read by the Secretary General of the EFF, Mr. Marshal Dlamini, the EFF says the Parliament has acted unlawfully.
"The unreleased Phala Phala judgment is a failure of the court to uphold constitutional supremacy. The Constitutional Court Chief Justice, this memorandum is going to the Chief Justice. So there's no confusion; she must receive it. The Economic Freedom Fighters present this memorandum to express our profound dissatisfaction and constitutional concern regarding the court's delay in handing down judgment in the Phala Phala matter.
"This delay has created a crisis of confidence in the judiciary and it casts doubt on the principle that all persons, regardless of office, are equal before the law. We stand here to demand the immediate release of the long-awaited judgment. Phala Phala scandal, theft related to four million dollars in February 2020 from Cyril Ramaphosa's project fund. The money was hidden and never declared in the South African Reserve Bank and South African Reserve Services as required by law. The alleged departure of the buffalo sale to the Swedish businessman."
"Instead of reporting theft to the South African police services as mandated by section 34, the president used his personal presidential protection to conduct a secret, unlawful investigation, involving the alleged interrogation, bribery, cross-border operations, the scandal. The deliberate aim was to protect the president's financial interest. It violates the constitution and the law.
