Colombian striker joins Mamelodi Sundowns
In the previous seasons, Mamelodi Sundowns have made a number of good signings who came and had a lot of impact in the club. Masandawana have shown that it is not only about signing players, but it must be about the impact on the club. Looking back at the players who were signed before, most of them came and won the league title. Mamelodi Sundowns are the Betway Premiership reigning champions under the coach Miguel Cardoso.
The 25-year-old Colombian striker Brayan Leon Muniz has completed the move to Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa. Muniz is joining Masandawana on a three-year deal with a year option, from the Colombian Categoria Primera A club Independiente Medellin on a R53 million deal. Independiente Medellin is currently on top of the table despite being knocked out in the domestic cup by Athletico Nacional. Muniz has also played for Junior FC and Pereira FC.
After AFCON in Morocco, Mamelodi Sundowns will face Orbit College, Sekhukhune United, and Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership matches in January. The Premier Soccer League will later confirm details as Masandawana also have commitments in the CAF Champions League. On the 23rd of January, it is expected that they will play against the Sudanese-based club Al Hilal, and in February they will play against Saint Eloi Lupopo in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
