CAF rejects Orlando Pirates complaints
CAF has decided to shut down all Orlando Pirates hopes of returning to the CAF Champions League tournament through the back door . Orlando Pirates were knocked out by Saint Eloi Lupopo in the second preliminary rounds at Orlando Stadium . In the first leg in Lubumbashi , Saint Eloi Lupopo embarrassed Ezikamagebhula by 3-0 . In the second leg Orlando Pirates came back strong to level the score . The match went into penalties unfortunately Yanela Mbuthuma missed a penalty on the day .
At Orlando Stadium prior to the match a lot of tensions happening after the arrival of both teams in the changing rooms . It was seen securities at Orlando Pirates clashes with Saint Eloi Lupopo players . According to reports it was a clash related to accreditations . On the same day one of the Saint Eloi Lupopo officials was on the physical exchange with the Orlando Pirates officials . The drama happened when Lupopo fc coach Guy Bukasa was prevented from entering into the changing rooms for the allegations of accreditations .
Orlando Pirates lost the match 5-4 on penalties. They lodged a complaints to CAF regarding coach Guy Bukasa eligibility to seat on the bench ; Wanet Kashala and Molia who were not eligible to play according to Orlando Pirates FC . On Wednesday morning Lupopo released a statement to announced that, CAF has taken a decision to reject the complaint made by Orlando Pirates . The famous Lord Mukoko has been suspended for the next two CAF matches due to unsporting behavior at Orlando Stadium .
Further more Orlando Pirates has been fined R430,000 for the chemical use on the day of the match . CAF ruled that Orlando Pirates have failed to issue accreditation for the visitors . In 2016 Mamelodi Sundowns managed to returned to the tournament through back door and they went on to win the tournament . Orlando Pirates will now focusing in the Carling Knockout Cup against Marumo Gallants " .
