Benni McCarthy honoured in Kenya picture

Harambee Stars Head Coach and former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy was honoured by the H.E. president Dr. William Ruto on Friday. Kenya celebrated 62nd Jamhari day . McCarthy played for Bafana Bafana in the AFCON in 1998 in Burkina Faso where he scored four goals against Namibia . He was part of the Bafana Bafana squad who went to the FIFA World Cup 1998 In France and scored against Denmark when they lost 3-1 . In football he is the South African players who won the UEFA Champions League with Porto under coach Jose Mourinho .

He returned to South Africa to play for Orlando Pirates and he scored a brace in less than 20 minutes in the Soweto Derby when they beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 at FNB Stadium . In 2018 McCarthy won his first trophy as a coach of Cape Town City , beating Supersport United 4-1 on penalties at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban . On his return from Scotland , AmaZulu fc hired Benni McCarthy as their new coach in 2021 . He managed to take Usuthu into the CAF Champions League tournament for the first time in the history of the club . 

After parting ways with Usuthu , he went to join English premiership club Manchester United as strikers coach . Now he is the Head coach in Kenya for the men's national team . On Friday he was honoured for having a good run in the Chan tournament . Kenya beaten 1-0 and Morocco and historic win against Dr Congo . They were knocked out by Madagascar 4-3 on penalties . Except that McCarthy did not qualify for the AFCON and FIFA World Cup next year ,Willam Ruto felt that McCarthy deserves Head of State Commendation .
