Bafana Bafana have managed to secure a spot in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The tournament will take place in three different countries: USA, Mexico, and Canada. Bafana Bafana will be playing in the tournament for the third time in the history of South African football. The first time Bafana Bafana qualified was in 1998 under the late coach Clive Barker.

The late Bafana Bafana striker Philemon Chippa Masinga scored a great goal at FNB Stadium to take Bafana Bafana into the France 1998 World Cup. Bafana Bafana lost 3-0 in their opening match against France. In 2002 they went to play in Korea and Japan FIFA World Cup 2002. It was under coach Jomo Sono when they lost 3-2 against Spain in the must-win match. In 2010 Bafana Bafana drew 1-1 against Mexico after leading 1-0 from the great goal by Siphiwe Tshabalala.

In the second match, Uruguay beat Bafana Bafana 3-0. In the last game, Bafana Bafana managed to beat France. On Tuesday night coach Hugo Broos took Bafana Bafana back into the FIFA World Cup after beating Rwanda 3-0. Thalente Mbatha, Oswin Appollis, and Evidence Makgopa scored.
