Bafana Bafana is out of the AFCON 2025
Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are through to the quarter final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after beating South Africa 2-1 on Sunday night . Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos started the game with ; Ronwen Williams , Khuliso Mudau , Siyabonga Ngezane , Bongani Sibisi , Mbekezeli Mbokazi , Teboho Mokoena , Bathusi Aubaas , Oswin Appollis , Lyle Foster and Samukelo Kabini . In the first half Bafana Bafana created lot of chances in the 2nd minute Burnley striker Lyle Foster got a free header inside the box but he couldn't finished it . Orlando Pirates midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng got a chance in the 6th minute but he missed it .
In the 13th minute Lyle Foster goal was ruled offside by VAR . Cameroon opened the scoring in the 34th minute by Stoke City right back Junior Tchamadeu . In the second half in the 47th minute Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Michel Kofane scored to give a double lead against Bafana Bafana . Hugo Broos made changes trying to come back into the game ; by bringing Aubrey Modiba for Samukelo Kabini , Relebohile Mofokeng out for Sipho Mbule , Nkosinathi Sibisi out for Tshepang , Evidence Makgopa in for Oswin Appollis . Players who received yellow cards in the Bafana Bafana team are ; Lyle , Siyabonga Ngezane and Nkosinathi Sibisi .
After putting pressure to Cameroon , Bafana Bafana managed to get one back in the 88th minute by Evidence Makgopa . Unfortunately it was too late for Bafana Bafana to secure victory that would advanced them to the next round. It is not all lost for Bafana Bafana as they have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2026 . Egypt legend Mohamed Aboutrika earlier said " honestly , I want to Hugo Broos to be knocked out . The arrogance is obvious and his commitment are very irritating . Everyone is praising the stadiums and the organization , yet he is the only one criticizing " .
Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Brian Baloyi said during the game while he was speaking at Ukhozi FM " There's a lot coach needs to do . It was expected that will be the ones who will be attacking but we were not . The way we took decisions it wasn't right , we were waiting for Cameroon to come at us . We had opportunities but we didnt use them " .
