Bafana Bafana have managed to beat Zambia in the friendly match on Saturday afternoon. They are preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament next month, in December. The match was played at Nelson Mandela Bay. It is the second time in a row qualifying for the AFCON under coach Hugo Broos. They have also qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA.

Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis opened the scoring in the 43rd minute in the first half. In the second half, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos made changes, introducing Mohau Nkota, Sipho Chaine, Thalente Mbatha, Siphephelo Sithole, Evidence Makgopa, and Thabang Matuludi. Mohau Nkota got the second and Siphephelo Sithole scored the third. Sebobo Bhanda scored the only goal for Zambia in the 90+2 minutes.

Orlando Pirates midfielder Sipho Mbule won the player of the match. Speaking on SABC Sport, Mbule said, "The coach told us that there's no friendly game; we have to work hard. Obviously, we wanted to do great as he told us we must give our all as we did before. It was a very competitive game; they didn't make things easy for us." Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos said they didn't have a good game on the day.

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teboho Mokoena completed his 50th cap in the national team. Mokoena said, "I have started to be a regular under coach Hugo Broos. I also had to thank coach Stuart Baxter who gave me my first cap. I will also thank Percy Tau who was around when I got my first cap."
